Bill Would Ban Nashville Police From Using Tear Gas as Chemical Weapon

Tear gas has been used throughout history and just recently during some protests throughout the nation. Protesting against police brutality in the wake of the death of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and countless others have been the predominant reasons of protests. Some members of the Metro Council want to outlaw the use of tear gas by Metro Police.

Tuesday, Metro Council member Emily Benedict introduced BL2020-329, which would ban Metro Police from the use of chemical weapons such as tear gas. Metro Police used tear gas when the courthouse was set on fire during protests on May 30th.

Not too long ago a 22-year-old protester in Ohio died two days after being exposed to tear gas. What do you think should be done?
