Every once in a while a new food trend starts that makes you go "Wait, this is a thing?"
This is one of those trends.
Apparently, "bowl food" is now the new thing in trendy restaurants. It's such a big deal among the foodie elite that it was even served at the royal wedding
In case you're wondering, food + bowl = "bowl food".
It's a fancy mixture of meat and vegetables, all tossed together into a bowl. So, basically, a fancy version of what you used to do in college whenever you didn't really have much to eat so you just tossed a bunch of crap together and made a meal out of it.
At the royal wedding, super fancy bowl food was a feature on the menu:
- Fricassee of free range chicken with morel mushrooms and young leeks
- pea and mint risotto with pea shoots, truffle oil and parmesan crisps
- 10-hour slow roasted Windsor pork belly with apple compote and crackling
Now, are you thinking what I'm thinking?
Because I'm thinking TACO BELL AND KFC HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR YEARS.
^^^^^^ YEP. A bunch of food in a bowl.
And here again...
Taco Bell does the "Power Up Bowl", which is...you guessed it...a bunch of crap mixed together in a bowl.
Well, there ya go. Taco Bell and KFC are trendsetters for the Royal Wedding. Who knew?
