Remember when Vine was a thing? The 7-second looping video got all of our attention and created a whole new wave of internet stars - Logan Paul, Jack & Jack, Lele Pons - not to mention getting Ruth B and Shawn Mendes signed to their respective record deals!
Well, back in 2016, Twitter (who bought Vine) decided that user engagement was down, and they shut down the app. The founder of Vine, Dom Hofmann, believes that Twitter mishandled the product.
And to prove his point...HE'S BRINGING IT BACK.
Well, sort of.
In an uber-cryptic tweet just sent out a few hours ago, Hofmann announced he would be launching a new app called Byte that seems to be, well, basically Vine Part 2.
And the buzz is real.
Byte already has nearly 60,000 Twitter followers, and the internet is pretty stoked for more 7-second clips.
And, this guy, who says what everyone else is thinking.
What will Byte look like? Will it basically be Vine, Part 2? Or will it there be other elements to keep people engaged?
We'll find out sometime next year!!
