Julia Michaels and Selena Gomez have worked together a TON - the two are longtime best friends, and Julia's written some of Selena's biggest hits, including "Hands to Myself".
Well, they just collaborated on a new song that touches on a very real note - their individual struggles with anxiety and depression.
The lyrics are a powerful reminder that it's okay to not be okay, and is full of all-too-real scenarios that anyone battling mental illness or social anxiety can relate to. For example, in the first verse:
Oh, I try my best just to be social
I make all these plans with friends and hope they call and cancel
Then I overthink about the things I’m missing
Now I'm wishing I was with 'em
Selena took to Instagram with a heartfelt caption about the song and her relationship with Julia.
It's the first new music we've heard from Selena since returning to the public eye from a long hiatus while she underwent mental health treatments of her own. If this is the tone of Selena's next project, we can't wait for more!
