After an hour-long emergency meeting of the Nashville Metro's Coronavirus Task Force, the Board of Health voted to mandate mask-wearing in public in the city.
Dr. Alex Jahangir called the meeting after an abrupt increase in COVID-19 cases over the last few days, and the board voted unanimously to create an order mandating the usage of face coverings at all times when in public.
Details are still being worked out, but an order is expected to be written within the next 48 hours outlining the new rules and their enforcement. There were 232 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Davidson County today, and a record 1,410 new cases in the state of Tennessee.
