Celine Dion's Mother, Therese, Dead At 92

ThérÚse Tanguay Dion has sadly passed away.

The mother of international superstar Celine Dion, who was affectionately given the nickname "Maman Dion" by Canadians, died Thursday night (January 16) surrounded by her family and friends, TMZ reports. The Dion matriarch's eldest child, Claudette Dion, revealed last year that her mother had been dealing with significant health problems, including memory loss and vision and hearing impairment.

ThérÚse's death comes just two days after the fourth anniversary of the passing of Celine's husband, René Angélil. Sadly, Thursday, also marked the 4th anniversary of the passing of Celine's brother, Daniel, TMZ noted.

ThĂ©rĂšse was the mother of 14 children. She was also a television host, philanthropist, and songwriter. She famously wrote Celine's first hit, “Ce n’était qu’un rĂȘve.” The 92-year-old additionally founded the Maman Dion Foundation in 2006 to aid disadvantaged children.

Celine is currently on her "Courage World Tour." She is scheduled to perform in Miami Friday (January 17) and Saturday (January 18). It’s not yet known if she plans to postpone the show.

Rest in peace, Maman Dion.
