Back in November of 2018, I did something that honestly made me a little nervous at first. I had professional boudoir photos taken by The Adore Girls in Nashville .
My trepidation had nothing to do with lingerie or sensuality itself -- it was all centered around my own warped idea that I might not be 'good enough' for a shoot like that. As a single, working mom who skips the gym 7 days a week, the thought of my Definitely Not Kardashian Figure captured on film was a slightly terrifying one.
But then I met Jamie and Courtney -- the two photographers behind The Adore Girls -- and my fears were completely assuaged. Their motto? 'F*** perfect.' They encouraged me not to diet or concern myself with last minute exercising; to come to them exactly as I was. So that's what I did.
I showed up the day of my shoot with some pretty little things I'd found at a lingerie boutique downtown, and the pampering commenced. Hair, make-up, mimosas, an up-beat playlist, and most importantly -- women determined to help me celebrate myself . Needless to say, it was a blast.
In fact, I had such a good experience that I just had my second shoot, this time at their studio in Murfreesboro.
Sharing my photos has been a continued exercise in self-love, and a huge part of my enduring desire to help other women realize that its okay to embrace their bodies .
I've received so many messages and comments from mothers who feel that childbirth sucked all the Sexy out of them; cancer survivors who wonder if their double mastectomy means that boudoir photography is off limits; 'plus size' women that ask if there is a 'weight limit'; husbands who want to know how they can convince their wives that they are beautiful and worthy . It breaks my heart.
My answer has been consistent across the board. I simply told them what The Adore Girls told me .
'F*** perfect.' You are beautiful now . Every curve, every dimple and stretch mark, every pound of flesh. Love, confidence, warmth -- that is what makes a woman sexy. So own yours, my queens. I'll be here to cheer you on, if you need me. Love, Sav
