Drone Footage Captures Abandoned "Alcatraz of the South"

The "Alcatraz of the South" otherwise known as Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary is one of those places you may have never seen inside or around. And you wouldn't have wanted to. Located near the town of Petros in Morgan County, Tennessee. It's known for the location place of notorious prisoners like James Earl Ray, the man who assassinated MLK Jr was held there.

Other than the Barkley Marathon once a year, the prison has been empty since it's closure back in 2009. So thanks to this drone, a very brave drone, we can now see what lies behind the closed fence of Brushy Mountain Prison and how nature has taken it's course.

While this may be the only look we have now, there is talk of Brushy Mountain turning the State Penitentiary into a new tourist location if you're brave enough.
