Air Force Sergeant Holding K-9 Best Friend After Being Put Down Will Bring Tears To Your Eyes

These images have broken the Internet's heart in one first look. They show the moment an Air Force dog handler cradled his canine partner after being put down while draped in the U.S. flag.

Sergeant Kyle Smith told WSOC in North Carolina that the decision to put down Bodza was one of the hardest he has ever had to make when Bodza's health began to suffer last year.

When his symptoms worsened, Bodza was diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy, which is what ultimately led to Smith's difficult decision.

The pair severed side-by-side on four military tours before Smith adopted Bodza after retirement in 2014.
