Fear Grows In The Search For Missing Tennessee Woman

Veronica Casciato. 48, was last seen the morning of April 6, 2017 at Harrogate campus of Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. She was working towards a degree in social work and stayed on campus in a dorm during the week as a part of a work study program.

Veronica was last spotted leaving campus around noon Thursday afternoon leaving campus in her 2010 white Toyota Corolla after her morning library shift from 8-10 am. Her debit card was used at a gas station just off campus and has not had any activity since.

Her family and friends were did not find it unusual when they could not reach her that day as she had a paper due.  Her husband, Steve, was not alarmed until he received a call from her instructor saying she did not show up for a scheduled field trip with her class to a homeless shelter, which she had told her peers and family she was excited to attend.

Veronica did not show up to their home, which she returned to on the weekends, that night or the next day so Steve contacted the campus police department. Campus police performed a welfare check and found that Veronica was not in her room, however her belongings, including her computer, were all still in her room.

Last Tuesday, April 18th, authorities identified Veronica's vehicle with the help of a hunter.  The turkey hunter reportedly spotted it several weeks earlier parked off Highway 165 in Eagle Gap. He was not alarmed as this was a usual parking spot, but contacted authorities when he saw it a second time.

Steve spoke with Dateline saying, "You don't have to have a lot of imagination to think about all the things that could have happened. She just vanished. She is just gone."

Multiple agencies have responded, including helicopter search and K-9 units. The search was called off last week with no solid leads to Veronica's whereabouts. While authorities have not been able to give the family any new leads, they still remain hopeful.

Steve also commented to Dateline, "She would do anything for anyone. She could pick up hitchhikers, even though I told her not to. She just trusted people."

Veronica Casciato is 5'4", 120 lbs., with short brown hair and blue eyes. She has glasses and a tattoo of a fairy located on her upper right arm.
