Man Devotes His Life To Adopting Old Dogs Who Can't Find Forever Homes

Any pet owner knows how hard it is to lose a furry friend. One man, however, decided to find a way to help him cope with his loss.

When Steve Greig’s beloved dog passed away, he thought the pain would subside with time.

Months later, still feeling crushed, he finally came to the conclusion that he had to embark on an important mission: Give another dog a good life.

But he didn't want just any dog... Steve went to his local shelter in Denver, Colorado, and asked to adopt the “least adoptable” senior dog, as these are the ones who are so often overlooked.

That's when he found Eeyore, a 12-year-old chihuahua with a heart murmur and four bad knees.

And he didn't stop there...

Whenever Steve came across a dog that looked like it wouldn't find a home, he took it in.

Now, 5 years later, Steve is a super-busy human dad to his 9 elder shelter dogs: A life which he perfectly documents on Instagram, which currently has 655K followers.

A day in Steve's life consists of many things...

He starts by waking up at 5:00 AM to make breakfast for his furry family, which usually involves making 10+ different meals, as most of them have restricted diets or need to be given specific medications.

After breakfast, he heads to work (he's an accountant, by the way!), but he always returns around lunchtime to let the dogs out - In case you're wondering: Yes, he walks them all at the same time.

Weekends are busy...

And holidays mean epic family photos...

But wait, there's more...

Steve also has a pig named Bikini, who totally believes she is a dog.

Let's not forget the birds...

Two ducks, pigeons and a few chickens. One of these chickens, also known as "Oprah," enjoys riding around the house on the roomba.

And we certainly can't leave out Stuart...

This little rabbit was left in Steve's front yard by a complete stranger, who clearly knew about his love for animals. Not sure what to do with him, Steve put Stuart in the chicken coop.

It must have been fate, however, because it turns out Stuart is "the most chill rabbit around." He gets along with everyone and isn't afraid of anything... Which is awesome, considering he's surrounded by tons of other animals every single day.

Having so many pets is more than just "fun"... It's incredibly rewarding.

There's one thing we hope you take in from Steve's story: When the time comes for you to find a forever-friend of your own, keep adoption in mind!

And if you're as obsessed with this motley crew as we are, you NEED to follow their adventures on Instagram.
