Local 2-Year-Old Dies After Wind Knocks Down Metal Soccer Goal

A 2-year-old child was killed Sunday at one of the outdoor fields at the International Indoor Soccer Complex on Antioch Pike.

The toddler, Melanie Espinoza Rodriguez, was struck by a metal soccer goal that was knocked down by high winds. She was taken to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The International Indoor Soccer Complex has three indoor fields and six outdoor fields.  While there are not leagues for children as young as 2-years-old, there were nightly tournaments at the venue.

Melanie's family has set up a GoFundMe for her.
