Sevier County in East Tennessee is seeing major issues due to high winds.
A brush fire in the Gatlinburg/Pittman area grew this afternoon to approximately 60-80 acres. About 20 different fire crews from surrounding areas responded quickly to help battle the blaze. Pittman Center Fire Chief Rosemay Nichols reported that it is only about 10 percent contained.
Chief Nicols said they are working to keep the fire contained and away from the Cobbly Nob area. At this time there are no homes threatened due to the ridge between the fire and Cobbly Nob.
At this time officials are saying residents should not be worried, but should stay alert.
