It's Girl Power Weekend here on 107.5 the River and we're celebrating the past and present girl power anthems!
Woman - Kesha (2017)
It's safe to say Kesha has been through a lot lately but she's taking it all as an opportunity to grow and be stronger than ever! YOU GO GIRL!
Run the World (Girls) - Beyonce (2011)
You didn't think we could make a list about girl power without Queen Bey, did you?!
Who run the world?! Girls! (and Beyonce, of course)
Most Girls - Hailee Steinfeld (2017)
How many times have you heard "she's not like most girls"?! Well Hailee Steinfeld is asking "what's WRONG with being like most girls?!"
All women should be celebrated instead of compared to each other!
Salute - Little Mix (2014)
The ladies of Little Mix are here to say to their fellow women - we salute YOU! And they're here to say it with an awesome beat and killer dance moves.
Man, I Feel Like a Woman - Shania Twain (1997)
You know when you're having a girls night and you hear "let's go girls" and everyone loses it and goes into full karaoke mode?! Yeah. It's THAT much of a classic.
Flawz - Caitlin Crosby (2009)
You may not know her name but Caitlin Crosby is ALL about girl power and embracing yourself for who you are!
Fun fact - she is also the founder of The Giving Keys AND has worked on a blog called "Love Your Flawz" with Brie Larson (a fellow badass woman).
Confident - Demi Lovato (2015)
I think the song title speaks for itself! Demi has been a huge proponent of being confident in your own skin and we love her for that!
Beautiful - Christina Aguilera (2002)
This song may be 15 years old but the lyrics still ring true - you are beautiful no matter what. Remember that! PLUS the song was written and produced by a woman!
You Don't Own Me - Lesley Gore (and Grace + G-Eazy) (1963)
We're taking it WAYYY back here with Lesley's song about men not owning her or being able to tell her what to do! This song was a huge anthem for the women's movement in the 60th and recently was covered by Grace and G-Eazy for the Suicide Squad soundtrack.
Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) - Kelly Clarkson (2012)
Ok so this is kind of a break up song but the principles still stand true! Don't let a relationship (or break up) take away who you are!
