A small plane had engine failure while carrying a Lady Antebellum banner for CMA Fest. Amazingly, the pilot landed the plane smack in the intersection of I-24 where it meets I-65 during one of the busiest weekends in Nashville traffic (frankly Nashville's history). And everyone is OK!
The plane was carrying a sign over CMA Fest downtown that read "Meet Lady Antebellum text CMA to 31996". Thats when he said the plane had an engine failure and he needed a place to land. Like right away.
He told the Tennessean, "I was still going around in circles downtown. I wasn’t trying to come here that’s for sure. I didn’t have a lot of choices. I maneuvered the airplane, picked my spot and landed in it."
Amazingly, he's fine and no motorists were hurt. That's a pretty bad a$$ bit of skill.
