A microbiologist tells how many times to use it before bad things happen. And guess what? Most people don't change them as often as they should.
Not to freak you out too much, but Philip Tierno from the New York University of Medicine, considers a wet towel a living organism.
He told Business Insider that it's a breeding ground for germs. So...
only use it 3 times before it goes to the washer. But that's only if it fully dries after every time you use it. But use common sense. If it smells, wash it.
If there's a smell, there's microbes. Even though some microbes are good, these aren't them.
One survey found only 20% of people wash their towels that often. Dis-gust-ing.
And don't share a towel. You could come into contact with germs your body isn't use to. And that could lead to Staphylococcus aureus, Tierno said, "which may give rise to a boil, or a pimple, or an infection."
