Something shocking happened at a hospital in Kentucky.
A doctor was waiting in her delivery room to have her own baby, when she heard intense cries from a woman in the room next to hers. So she got up out of her bed, delivered the baby next door, and returned to her room and her contractions started immediately.
Here's how things went down in Frankfort Regional Hospital. Dr Amanda Hess occasionally delivers children as part of her career as an OB-GYN. She heard the screams next door from the woman, fully dilated.
“I just put on another gown to cover up my backside and put on some boots over my shoes, to keep from getting any fluid and all that stuff on me, and went down to her room and I knew her.”
The doctor on call was on a break and on his way back to the hospital. She had to do the job of getting this child into the world. Things went well. Mother and baby are fine.
After that, she went back to her room and gave birth her own baby girl named Ellen Joyce.
The two moms haven't met up[ since, but Dr Hess insists she was just doing her job.
“Delivering other peoples’ babies is something I do every day. And I’m more comfortable with delivering someone else’s baby than my own, for sure".
