Wearing socks in bed can be awesome if that's your thing.

But sometimes bedtime sock wearers get shamed: "Wearing socks in bed is stupid."

Well science has come down on the side of "socks in bed" people. In fact, wearing socks to bed can help you fall asleep faster. They can also help you sleep throughout the night without waking up. And, wearing socks to bed will help you feel better rested when you wake up.

Why are we not all wearing socks to bed?! This is a revolutionary breakthrough in sleep science.

Here's the science behind it.

We could bore you to death with explanations concerning the brain's thermostat, known as the preoptic/anterior hypothalamus

Instead, we'll just say wearing socks tricks your body into thinking it's the middle of the night.  So your body starts acting like it should during good sleep. You fall asleep faster than it would with melatonin. And it also works better than hypnosis.

They say if your feet get too hot to wear socks in bed, buy socks in a light, breathable fabric.
