According to police in Bristol, TN, a man and his son had a long standing dispute that resulted in attempted murder and an amputated leg.
According to a report from the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, Douglas Ferguson (age 76) tried to murder his son with a running chainsaw while his son was mowing the yard.
The son averted the chainsaw and defended himself with the running lawn mower. He was successful. First responders were called to the scene this summer where the father had a bloody head and leg. The leg was amputated.
The warrant for Ferguson's arrest wasn't served until this week due to the severity of the injuries to his body. He's being charged with attempted second degree murder and violating parole.
