This is simply evil. A Tennessee doctor in Columbia surrendered her medical license because she borrowed $300,000 from a patient. But when the patient asked for her money back, the doctor instead diagnosed her with dementia!
The state medical board forced her to give up medicine. Dr. Suellen Lee says it's a set up in a quote from The Tennessean, “It was all lies and I was told that if I fought it would be extremely costly to me. And there would still be no benefit. There was no chance of reversal.”
Authorities say Dr. Lee borrowed her patient's money to save her troubled medical practice. Then when the patient (a friend of 25 years) asked for the money back, Dr. Lee diagnosed her with dementia in an effort to not pay her back. She labeled her with dementia without any tests or second opinion.
Later tests show the patient had zero signs of dementia.
State records indicate that Dr. Lee sent a letter to the patient's daughter about the diagnosis. The daughter sent it to her financial institutions... that froze up all her assets.
Dr. Lee disputes the state's case, but last month she conceded to the facts when she was negotiating her punishment with the Tennessee Department of Health and the Board of Medical Examiners.
Dr. Lee stands by her dementia diagnosis and alleges the case against her was made because the patient was angry about the diagnosis.
