It all started with a pic being texted to the wrong number. A mistake.
A bizarre series of events has helped two middle Tennessee boys get much needed financial support as they battle serious illness. A girl sent a picture in a text looking for feedback on a dress. But she accidentally sent it to Tony Wood, a realtor and family man in middle Tennessee. Instead of replying, "wrong number, who dis?", he sent back a pic with 5 of his 6 six kids giving and thumbs up. The exchange went viral.
He wrote, “I believe this message was intended for someone else. My wife isn’t home, so I couldn’t get her opinion, but the kids and I think you look stunning in your dress! You should definitely go with that one!”
Soon the public learned that Wood's wife and 6th child, Kaizler, were not in the picture because Kaizler is battling leukemia. That's when friends and strangers donated over $60,000 to Kaizler's gofundme campaign. This far exceeded his goal. According to FOX 17, Kaizler will have his last treatment in April 2019.
That's when the Wood's decided they should help another child... paying it forward.
They decided to ask people to Nashville's Finn Shafran instead. Finn is fighting a rare form of a cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma. He's had many surgeries and his family is seeking out special treatments from the best medical minds all across the country to save his life.
The Wood family is directing everyone to Finn's gofundme page to help his family pay for their fight to find a successful treatment for him.
The Wood family says they'll keep using the publicity they got from that dress text to help more kids. They credit God for bringing these blessings into their lives.
