Metro police were able to catch a man who tried to rob a Nashville bank using a scooter (the kind parked on every corner downtown). Police responded to a call about a burglary at Bank of America Plaza on Union Street. Witnesses told police a man was trying to use a scooter in his attempt to burgle the bank.
Police reports say the suspected thief, Curtis Causey, tried to use a Bird scooter to smash the door at Bank of America. When cops got to the scene they were able to apprehend him. Witnesses identified him as the man wielding the scooter. Causey told police during his booking that he would, “run from the police every time. I’m not going to make it easy for you to arrest me.” We're not sure if that meant he was going to use the same scooter as a getaway vehicle.
Charges against him include, vandalism, evading arrest, and criminal impersonation. He did about $2,000 in damage to the door. The scooter was destroyed.
In non-bank robbery news, let's all remember South Park's beautiful salute to scooters.
