Nashville Predator all star defenseman PK Subban has done nothing but make a positive impact in Nashville since he got here. But he has an international fan base, and he never hesitates to use his platform to make a positive impact.
This past Saturday he heard about a 13 year old boy who'd been getting racist insults while playing hockey (something PK has had to endure for a long time). He decided to reach out to that boy with this message.
“I can tell you this right now, as long as you’re still breathing in this world, you gotta believe in yourself, and let nobody tell you what you can and can’t do, especially if it’s because of the color of your skin,” Subban said. “In this world, some things happen that we don’t really understand, that’s ok, we don’t have to understand it..when you play, you play because you love the game and you want to play. Let nobody take that away from you.”
We love this message and it meant a lot to that boy and other kids getting picked on.
PK has a list other things that make him a great human (donating 10 million dollars to the Montreal Children's Hospital, his Blue Line Buddies program in Nashville that connects inner city kids and police officers to build better bonds between them, caroling with fellow players and stars at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital).
But this video from Toronto Monday night is just so sweet.
