Business Insider look into the program and recommended
Open a new personal Southwest credit card, and here's the bonus: 30,000 points and an unlimited Companion Pass, which is valid for travel through 2019.
The Companion Pass lets you book a free ticket for a companion whenever you travel — all you'll have to pay is taxes and fees (which is usually less than $10).
*note: most of these cards require you to make a $4,000 purchase in the first three months, but if you're planning on making a big purchase anyway.............
Normally, to get a companion pass, it would mean you having to earn 110,000 points in one year!
According to Business Insider:
In order to receive the bonus, you can't currently hold a personal Southwest credit card, and you can't have earned a sign-up bonus from a Southwest card in the past 24 months. If you currently hold a card, but earned the bonus from it longer than 24 months ago (or never earned the bonus), you may be able to close that, wait a week or so, and apply for a new card.
There are several cards listed in the article, but the cheapest option is the Rapid Rewards Plus card. It has a $69 annual fee (not waived for the first year. You get 2 points/dollar for purchases from Southwest, and 1 point per dollar you spend on everything else. But you still get the 30,000 point bonus for starting it and the companion pass for 2019.
