Uber has expanded their monthly subscription service to Nashville. You pay a monthly fee for discounted rides on all Uber platforms, including electric bikes, scooters, UberX, Uber Pool and Express Pool. It's called "Ride Pass".
For $24.99 a month you can lock in the flat rate and forget about the super annoying things like:
- surge pricing
- weather pricing
- heavy traffic pricing
They say, by paying the fee, you can average a savings of about 15 percent a month. Meh. I guess if you use it a lot, and at peak times, you could save.
There's no limit to the number of rides you take per month.
The announcement came from Uber that, along with Nashville, the service will be available in Memphis, Tennessee; New York City, New York; Jacksonville, Florida; Dallas, Texas; St. Louis, Missouri; San Diego, California; Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina; Seattle, Washington; Portland, Oregon; San Antonio, Texas; Las Vegas, Nevada; New Orleans, Louisiana and Phoenix, Arizona.
And it's not just limited to car rides. A subscription also comes with 30 minutes of free Uber scooter use per month.
The deal will not lessen the pay for Uber drivers. The company says it will eat the difference.
Woo-hoo. Scooters.
