This video has been locked away in a vault somewhere for quite a long time but has finally seen the light of day! The original recording was made in January 1986 at Abbey Road Studios and Freddy also cut together a new video shot in just three hours with only four cameras at the Dominion Theatre where the musical Time was playing.
Freddie recorded two numbers for a star-studded version of the new (at the time) musical Time, written by his friend Dave Clark. He had originally only been scheduled to perform 'In My Defence' but insisted on coming back and laying down the spine-tingling vocal for 'Time Waits For No One.'
There's a story going around that Freddie asked the producer, Dave Clark, how he wanted it sung. Clark told him to sing in the style of 40's and 50's jazz singers like Billie Holiday. To which Mercury said it was no problem, he already had their costumes.
Classic Freddie Mercury.
