Nashville Predators General Manager David Poile has traded all-tar defender PK Subban to the New Jersey Devils.
In return for Subban, the Predators got Steven Santini, defensive prospect Jeremy Davies, the Devils’ 2019 second-round pick, and New Jersey's 2020 second-round pick.
The trade, by most accounts, was to free up salary cap space for the Predators. His enormous salary stood in the way of the Predators acquiring a high caliber, and probably high priced offensive player. It also gives them extra money to possibly extend the contract of Roman Josi, team captain and due for a new contract soon.
We will miss PK. While he was hurt for a portion of his time in Nashville, his play was mostly great (especially in the playoffs), he raised the profile of the Preds immensely, was loved by his teammates, and was a great citizen to the charities of Smashville. We ain't no Montreal. He will get appropriate cheers on his return.
And they are wheeling and dealing:
More on the trade of PK Subban as it develops.
