Nashville Humane Association is home to a real life Lietenant Dan from the movie Forrest Gump. He didn't lose his legs like the character in the movie, but his comeback is just as incredible.
Lieutenant Dan's story is inspiring.
He even wrote his own story on the Nashville Humane Association's website.
Well hello there, everyone! My name is Lt. Dan and boy, do I have quite a story.
I arrived at NHA with severe damage to my back legs due to having become entangled in barbed wire. Unfortunately, my back feet could not be saved and were ultimately amputated. However, I get around really well with the use of my wheelchair! You should see me go! Nothing can hold me back from running after all life has to offer me!
I’m great with other dogs and have really enjoyed all the friends I’ve made here at NHA. I hate to leave, but I’m ready for my very own forever home. If you’ve got the space and time to dedicate to me, I will be your forever best friend! If you’re ready to open up your heart to an amazing, handsome, funny, brilliant boy, then come meet me today at NHA!
