All credible sources are saying, that when free agency begins at 11am (local time) Monday, the long coveted Star Matt Duchene will become the newest Nashville Predator. Pierre Lubrun, of The Athletic, says it looks like a 7 year deal that will net Duchene 56 million dollars in total. The Nashville Predators have long sought the highly skilled centerman for several years now.

There is some debate as to him having a no-trade clause. Preds GM David Poile doesn't like to sign players that limit his ability to trade them down the line.

Last week, Nashville traded away fan-favorite PK Subban to the New Jersey Devils to make salary room to sign someone like Duchene. The Preds have never been a secret admirer of Duchene, speaking publicly that he will help the team score more goals, and not depend so heavily on the top line of Arvi, Forsbgerg, and Johannsen.

Duchene will likely center the second line, alongside MikaelGranlund and CraigSmith.

Duchene may have taken a somewhat "hometown discount" at 8 million a year. He has his tendrils throughout music city and spends time here. It's beleived he owns rental properties in middle Tennessee and rents a second home here.
