Jim's Nominations For Music City Film Awards

I, Jim Chandler of the Woody and Jim Show, proudly sit with popcorn in hand in the Music City Film Critics Association (MCFCA) of Nashville. I've just made my nominations for the very best in film for 2019. It was a great year for cinema, on the big screen and streaming. Netflix has several original movies that made my list ('Dolemite Is My Name' for example). Ensemble casts were a feast with movies like Knives Out, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Bombshell, and The Irishman. The strangest concepts hit theaters (i.e. the young boy who's imaginary friend is Hitler in JoJo Rabbit) and I loved them. Horror and Action had a great year (Avengers Endgame, Us). Although I haven't seen Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker yet, I'm pretty sure it would have made my list in an action or sound category.

My personal winner for each category is marked, but these choices were tough. There were very few that were leagues better than the other in each category. My ballot will be tallied along with other cinephiles in the association to form the the group's official nominees. MCFCA Winners will be announced January 10th.

Let the great arguments begin!

TRAILBLAZER AWARD:

Bong Joon Ho

Bong Joon Ho's Parasite screenplay and film speaks to everyone in society through one man's lens. It speaks to oblivity to other classes. Parasite shows we all have a duplicitous nature. And we all have dreams, but we have different levels of desperation to get there. Some are terrifying.

Here's the official trailers for the films I nominated for Best Picture. Enjoy.
