The Retired Tennessee Titan Who Changed Derrick Henry's Game

Indianapolis Colts v Tennessee Titans

Derek Henry was an incredible college football player. And he was a pretty good running back for the Tennessee Titans. But one former Titan changed the arc of Derek Henry's career. A career that includes the King's team record-setting performance in the Titans 20-13 win in New England Saturday.

That man is Eddie George, the Hall of Fame Titans running back and former Heisman Trophy winner. Last season, Henry was looking to turn things around from what was turning out to be a lackluster year. He went to Edd-eee!

“He’s a great dude, a great mentor, and a guy I look up to,” Henry told TitansOnline.com. “So I texted him, and asked if I could give him a call to get some advice. We had a conversation about this year, and I asked him what I needed to do, and what he thought about how I was playing. He gave his opinion, and kept it real with me.

“He shot me straight, and told me I needed to finish runs, that I needed to be more physical, and make the defense pay. He told me I wasn’t playing to my potential, and I could play better. That’s the stuff I needed to hear. It gave me a different outlook moving forward.”

Since then, King Henry has dominated the NFL, including his 182 yards and a touchdown vs New England in Saturday's wild card win. Eddie, you got any more wisdom for him playing the Ravens next weekend?
