Nashville Predators Head Coach Peter Laviolette and Associate Coach Kevin McCarthy have been let go. The Predators were led to their first Stanley Cup final in 2017 under Laviolette, but the team's playoff success got worse every year since. With this year's talented roster, the experts and fans have been wondering why they have dramatically underperformed this year.
"Under the leadership of Peter and Kevin, our organization reached unprecedented heights - from our franchise-altering run to the Stanley Cup Final to a Presidents' Trophy and our first two Central Division titles," General Manager David Poile said.
"Their passion for the game, ability to motivate a team and drive to be the best makes this a difficult decision. On behalf of the entire organization, I would like to thank Peter and Kevin for all their contributions to the Nashville Predators over the past five-and-a-half seasons."
No word on who will be on the bench now. Assistant coaches Dan Muse and newly added Dan Lambert are still with the team.
