Wilson County Man Arrested After Sparking a Joint in Tennessee Court

A Tennessee man is behind bars after he decided to get stoned in a Wilson County courtroom. Spencer Alan Boston, 20, was in court Monday to answer to a simple drug possession charge, Wilson County Sheriff Robert Bryan says.

When Judge Haywood Barry called the defendant to the podium, Boston delivered a speech on the merits of legalizing marijuana.

When he finished, he reportedly reached into his pocket, pulled out a joint and lit up,

Barry says. As the people in the courtroom broke out in laughter, deputies immediately took Boston into custody, according to Lt. Scott Moore. He's been charged with disorderly conduct and an additional count of simple possession. Barry set his bond at $3,000, court records reveal.

What possible reason could someone have for doing this -- unless he wanted to go to jail?
