Free tampons and sanitary products for all women. The Scottish government is set to ensure free universal access to tampons, pads and other menstrual products. Should the Period Products (Free Provision) Scotland Bill pass, Scotland will become the first country in the world to take this step.
The sponsor of the bill says that women, girls, trans and non-binary people who menstruate will have access. What is called "period poverty", keeps women and others excluded from society and their schools while going through their menstrual period.
Access to feminine hygiene products has become a global problem. In some rural parts of the world, reports say those that menstruate resort to to rags, leaves and newspaper which are unsanitary and can lead to infections.
