A Nashville man attacked a random couple outside a public storage unit with a machete. He didn't know the couple who were at the storage unit. Police used tourniquets to slow the bleeding from multiple machete wounds and transported them to the hospital where they are in critical condition.
Metro cops say 35 yr old Kelvin Edwards attacked the couple Sunday afternoon at Public Storage, 800 5th Avenue South. They beleive he went to the storage unit where he had stored the machete. Reports say he attacked the couple because he was mad about the Covid-19 shutdowns and his inability to to get into the Nashville Rescue Mission.
Edwards is in Davidson County Jail on two counts of attempted murder. He did not know the married couple, both in their 50's. Reports say, after the attack, he threw the machete down and raised his hands in the air. Police arrested him three minutes later.
Metro police say Edwards is homeless and has lived in Nashville since at least 2016, because he has arrest records dating back to then.
