While it looks like a weapon out of Star Wars, this tower is the coolest (and kindest) machine ever. Who in the world could come up with a device that take deadly smog out of the air and turn it into precious gemstones? Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde, that's who.

What would inspire someone to make a giant air purifier for polluted cities? It was Beijing. Roosegaarde looked out his hotel room in the smoggy city and it was so bad he couldn't see anything.

So he and his team got to work on making the device that pulls in 30,000 cubic meters of polluted air an hour. It reduces the pollution to a nano level, and cleans it. The air released is clean! And the tower is powered by solar energy, so it's creating any pollution. while trying to clean cities.

After cleaning the air, they were left with a sludge that came out of the dirty air. But they realized a good percentage of this sludge was carbon. So the decided to pressurize it. Because what happens when you pressurize carbon? you make diamonds! And people are buying them.

The tower has been so successful, that other cities want his smog tower. Next stop Delhi, India. And he has been contacted by governments and tech companies around the world.
