When Bill and Melinda Gates are officially divorced, it doesn't look like their kids will become billionaires.
The kids, Jennifer Gates, 25, Rory Gates, 21, and Phoebe Gates, 18, might get a lot of money compared to most of us, but not what they're probably used to.
While they haven't released details of how their 130 billion dollar fortune will be divided up, experts have poured over past statements they've made to the media. Those interviews make it likely the kids aren't getting a big chunk of that cash.
After a 2014 Ted Talk, Bill was asked about how the kids would be taken care of. He said, "They won't have anything like that. They need to have a sense that their own work is meaningful and important."
In 2011, reporters asked if was true that he would leave each kid 10 million dollars. He told The Daily Mail he wouldn't give an exact number. But he would only give them a "miniscule portion" of his fortune.
"I definitely think leaving kids massive amounts of money is not a favor to them," he said during a Reddit session.
"Warren Buffett was part of an article in Fortune talking about this in 1986 before I met him and it made me think about it and decide he was right," he said. "Some people disagree with this but Melinda and I feel good about it."
