Literally, our grandparents were promised flying cars would be a thing. And every generation since has been promised a car that could zoom over those stupid regular cars stuck in traffic. It finally looks like a possibility after this incredible AirCar from the creator, Prof Stefan Klein.
He finished two successful flights of this spectacular car-plane hybrid in Slovakia. When it's a car, the wings fold in like a transformer and it resembles a formula racer. It has a BMW engine and runs on gas. it has a range of 600 miles and can fly at a height of 8,200ft. Take that Vietnam Veterans Blvd!
It takes just over 2 minutes for the wings to fold out or in. Unlike some other prototypes, this car needs a runway. It can't take off straight up and down. After flying at about 105 mph, he landed at another Slovakian airport, folded the wings, and drove off.
He described the flight as "normal" and "very pleasant".
The plane does not have an official certification for flight yet.
