Did you know that there is a secret hidden in the floor of every single waffle house in America?

It doesn't matter if you're in Rivergate, just a mile from waffle house headquarters, or if you're in the middle of nowhere in Georgia. There is a secret.

Insiders at Waffle House call it 'the mark".

Waffle house is known for its down home and friendly atmosphere. They are also known for getting your food to you pretty quickly. Their goal is get you your breakfast (smothered and covered) to you in less than eight minutes (per Mental Floss).

So "the mark" is to help them be efficient.

It's a colored square of tile in the floor. This is where the server is supposed to stand. Supposedly, it's the perfect spot for a server to stand so they can yell orders to the cook. If you yell the order to the griddle masters from that spot, they can hear you LOUD and CLEAR. That eliminates mistakes (if they don't mumble) and helps you get those omelets fast.

Use this piece of knowledge to impress your fellow drunk friends at 2:30 in the morning.
