People who have seen and ridden a new hoverbike are comparing it to the hoverbikes (technically they're called Speeder bikes) seen flying through the forests by stormtroopers in movies and tv shows in the Star Wars universe.
It was shown at the Detroit Auto Show and could be available by next year.
“I feel like I’m literally 15 years old and I just got out of Star Wars. It’s awesome! Of course, you have a little apprehension, but I was just so amped. I literally had goosebumps and feel like a little kid,” the driver of the bike said to Reuters.
The hover bike can go 62 miles per hour. It has a combination electric/gas motor that can run for 40 minutes. Max weight is 220 lbs.
The maker of the Xturismo hoverbike, AERWINS Technology, says it could be available by 2023. The only downside is the price. It costs $770,000. But they hope to bring the costs down to $50k.
