Current law allows smoking in Nashville bars, but that's coming to an end.
New legislation was signed by Mayor John Cooper to ban smoking inside all the bars in Music City, to protect workers, musicians, and patrons.
In the announcement, Mayor Cooper said,
Today, I signed legislation to keep air smoke-free inside 21+ establishments, protect employees, musicians, and customers. Thank you to SmokeFree Tennessee for advocating for this change and to Metro Council for passing this bill which goes into effect March 2023.
The bar will effect places designed specifically for smoking, like cigar bars and hookah establishments.
