Sonny Melton, a Big Sandy, TN native, lost his life protecting his wife during the tragic events that took place at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas on October 1st. Sonny was a graduate of Union University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. He later became a Registered Nurse at the Henry County Medical Center in Paris, TN.
The Sonny Melton Scholarship Fund has been established at the Apex Bank to honor his life and legacy, while also assisting graduating Big Sandy High School Seniors who are pursuing a career in nursing. The Apex Bank has even committed to match the first $50,000 in private contribution to the fund!
