Nurse Asks Women to Stop Using Vacuum Hose to Try & End Their Periods Early

I literally never ever thought I'd be writing about something like this, but 2019 is wild af -- so here we are.

It's Friday, June 7th 2019, and I am compelled to say:

Ladies, please, please don't ever try to use a vacuum cleaner in an attempt to end your period early.

You see, a now-viral Tweet from a nurse [@OdysseyT99] has exposed the fact that this is something multiple women have recently done.

@OdysseyT99 has since made her account private since she sent the internet into a frenzy, but the Tweet reads:

"Ladies...please stop using your vacuum hose to end your period early. You’re gonna wind up sucking out a lot more than blood! There were 2 cases of this so far this week, and both women had to be admitted. Just...STOP!"

It needs to be stated that your menstrual flow is steady and controlled by hormones -- you can't just suck out the uterine lining that sheds during your period at will.

@OdysseyT99 also replied to shocked Twitter users explaining that with today's vacuum technology, "these women are lucky they aren't dead."

“It’s a terrible, unsafe idea that can lead to severe vaginal injuries and infections,” Dr. Adeeti Gupta, MD, told Cosmpolitan.com. “Please don’t even think about it.”

I honestly believe that the stigma around menstruation is a contributing factor in this dangerous and disturbing scenario.

So, for the love of God, ladies, just accept your period for the natural process that it is. You don't need to take drastic steps to try and stop something that is normal and an integral part of your reproductive health.

What do YOU think about all of this?!
