In what is sure to be one of the weirdest trends of 2020, dudes are dipping their...erm...nether regions into soy sauce to see if they can taste it.
That is not a typo.
It all started because of a well-known TikTok influencer @alxjames, who posted this video that's been shared 200,000 times
There IS science behind the video. Scientists have determined that there are, in fact, taste buds on various tissues, including your liver, and yes...guy's testicles.
There was even a study done back in 2013 on mice that proved that there were taste receptacles on the testes of rodents.
That said, PEOPLE ARE NOT MICE.
In a recent interview, Dr. Kieran Kennedy says "The study (or any that have followed) hasn’t shown that any animal can actually ’taste’ via these receptors like we’d taste something from the mouth. There is no scientific or medical evidence to back up any claims that men (of any species) can actually taste things through their junk."
That said, a strong scent can often cause our mouth to water and you can get even a potential hint of taste...so perhaps that's what Alex and others are experiencing.
But please, do not put soy sauce on your junk.
