As of June 8th, Representative Jesse Chism (D-Memphis) filed a proposal that would urge every college and university to establish a "George Floyd Scholarship Fund." Floyd was slain by a police officer, Derek Chauvin late May.
The resolution states "such a scholarship fund will serve as a simple symbol of compassion and as an invitation to minority students that 'this college wants you here.'"
