As the weather cools off into perfect, crisp fall days, there's no shortage of cool things to do around Nashville - even in a year as weird as 2020. Looking for a way to get out of the house (safely) and do something a little different, no matter what you're into.
Of course, there are pumpkin patches galore, Pumpkin Houses at Cheekwood, and a plethora of great hikes in our local and state parks. But this weekend there are three special things that I think might be worth checking out.
OUTLOUD Music Festival
Saturday, October 24th
Main Event Parking Lot (Downtown Nashville)
6pm + 9pm
The LGBTQ+ centric festival usually looks like a typical outdoor event, but this year will obviously be totally different. The drive-in event features LIVE performances from Big Freedia, Avenue Beat (F2020!), Trinity the Tuck, and more, plus a special virtual set from our friend Ava Max.
Tickets start at just $34 and there are two shows on the night, so you can enjoy it no matter your schedule. Check out tickets here
FREE Nashville Symphony Concert
Sunday, October 25th
Riverbluff Park | Ashland City, TN
3pm
A string orchestra of 14 players from the Nashville Symphony will be playing a free one-hour concert including music from Mozart and Holst. While it's not an officially-sanctioned Symphony event, the group is an independent organization of musicians who have been furloughed from the Symphony due to COVID-19. The event IS free, but donations to the Musicians' Financial Aid Fund are strongly encouraged.
FREE Self-Guided Ryman Tours
Sunday, October 25th
Ryman Auditorium
9am-4pm
If you've lived in Nashville but never toured the Mother Church, this weekend might be a good time to do it. Normally a tour is $25, but on Sunday you can do a self-guided tour of the venue for FREE. Just show your ID at the box office, and discover the Soul of Nashville theater experience, check out their new exhibit Turn It Up! Ryman's Rock Legacy, and get your picture on the stage where legends have stood for decades. Plus there will be socially-distanced family-friendly activities out on the Plaza all day. Guests are required to wear masks, sanitizer stations will be set up, and social distancing will be enforced wherever possible. Details here
So even in a pandemic, you can get out and explore the best that Nashville has to offer!! Get out there in the nice weather and have an amazing weekend :)
