Cleveland Indians Have A New Team Name

The Cleveland Indians have officially picked a new team name, but for now, they aren't releasing what it is.

Cleveland.com beat writer Paul Hoynes says an announcement is expected within the next two weeks.

The team first announced in July of 2020 that it was exploring a name change.

Critics have long argued that the current nickname is racist towards Native Americans.

Cleveland's MLB team has been known as the Indians since 1915.

A Cleveland TV station conducted a poll among fans for possible new names. Top contenders included "Spiders," "Guardians," and "Municipals."

What do you think of those? Other ideas?
