WATCH: Angry Guy Interrupts Reporter During Live Hurricane Report

A live NBC News report regarding Hurricane Ida's impact on Mississippi was interrupted Monday by an angry man who shouted obscenities at the reporter.

The incident occurred in Gulfport, where correspondent Shaquille Brewster was giving an update on the area's weather conditions. As Brewster was delivering his report, a white pickup pulled up behind him and a man emerged, shouting at the reporter. Although his exact words were difficult to make out, his rant seemed to focus on the accuracy of the media.

Although Brewster attempted to ignore the man, writing off the interruption by saying, "We deal with some people every once in a while," he eventually threw in the towel. "Craig, I'm gonna toss it back to you because we have a person who needs a little help right now," Brewster finally told host Craig Melvin. In a statement issued Monday afternoon, MSNBC President Rashida Jones praised Brewster for how he handled the encounter, calling him "an exceptional journalist."

Why are people often so eager to get on camera during live reports?
