Flying Out of Nashville? Here Are Some Hacks to Get the Cheapest Flight!

Flying is stressful, aggravating and worst of all EXPENSIVE!!

Luckily, I stumbled upon a Twitter thread from an ex-airline-employee who shared the tricks and hacks he uses to get the cheapest flights...and now I'm giving them to you!

Warning: his tweets/videos include some swearing.

Twitter user @kielhoilett posted a tweet about "penny flights" on Spirit Airlines that went viral. He said that if you go to the airport directly (doesn't work for online purchases) to purchase a flight with Spirit and ask about penny flights, you only end up having to pay the taxes essentially.

Not interested in flying Spirit? He also mentioned that for all other airlines, if you book online AFTER 12 am, the prices decrease drastically.

He explained it a little more in this video (WARNING: LANGUAGE).

Other tips & tricks you may not be aware of:

  • Always clear your cookies/browsing history or look for flights in a private window - when airline websites see you looking around for flights, they'll jack up the prices.

  • 47 days before your departure date seems to be the best median time to book. Any earlier or later and the flights may be more expensive.

  • Use Skyscanner to find the cheapest days to fly.

  • Try booking two one way flights instead of a roundtrip.
