The past few weeks all eyes have been on Mississippi State Penitentiary also known as Parchman due to unfair treatment of inmates. Actually, unfair would be an understatement as now 10+ inmates have been found dead since the start of the year. Since Friday’s rally, another intimate has been found dead on Saturday.
Since then attorney’s working for Jay-Z and Yo Gotti’s company, Roc Nation have filed suit on behalf of 29 inmates against prison officials. This accounts for inhumane conditions.
Families and friends of prisoners gathered at the Mississippi state capitol for a rally led by groups including Color of Change, Until Freedom, Team Roc, REFORM and Mississippi Prison Reform Coalition. This also brought out artists and supporters such as, Yandy Smith, J Prince, Mississippi’s own, Big K.R.I.T. and more; as they spoke on the unconstitutional conditions of prisoners.
